Sports play has a great role in improving and maintaining health and fitness, as well as improving mental skills and concentration level. This year Center for Social Change Sports Day was held on August 30, 2018 at Centennial Park in Ellicott City. More than 100 individuals from CSC’s residential and Day programs participated in the event.
It was a marvelous Thursday morning; plenty of sunshine on a clear blue sky. The day began with the participants rotating through activities such as the basketball and football throws, hula hoop competition, soccer ball kick, sack & spoon races, and jump roping. Heart thumping music and laughter filled the air.
The pavilion at the park was perfectly suited to the large group, with more than enough picnic tables and space for all. DJ Russ kept the tempo steady by playing beautiful songs that made everyone dance. Delicious food was served at the end of the activities.
Wrapping up the day was the awards ceremony. All participants received an individual certificate of participation, as well as a medal in recognition of their accomplishments.
