Friendship

At CSC, we value the importance of friendship for each of us, and that includes for the individuals that we support.  Good friends are important for one’s health; friends can help you celebrate good times and provide support during bad times; friends prevent loneliness and offer needed companionship, too.

Creating true friendships is difficult, and is likely to be particularly so for individuals with developmental and other disabilities.  Staff at CSC understand that part of their role is to assist those they support to have the opportunities to meet others, to spend time with them, to explore whether their common interests might form the foundation of a friendship.  We also understand that building friendships takes time and that, once developed, should not be neglected.

There are many benefits to having good friends.  Having friends can increase one’s sense of belonging and purpose, boost one’s happiness and reduce stress, improve feelings of self-worth.  At CSC, we pride ourselves on helping to make friendships happen.
