Choice

All people should be empowered to exercise informed choice.  This person-centered model of service delivery serves as the foundation for the supports that CSC provides to those we support.

CSC readily embraces the concept of informed choice for the persons we serve. Whether choosing between where they wish to live, or with whom; evaluating options in the supports they wish to receive; or planning for the future- we believe individuals are entitled to know and weigh all the options before making a choice.

Personal risks accompany personal choice. At CSC, we help the individuals that we support to identify the risks in addition to the merits when discussing and considering options. Personal choice allows individuals to decide to accept or not accept identified risks.

At CSC, where someone lives is that individual’s home, and the individual is the experts regarding life in that home. Residents participate in deciding about the rhythm of their day, the services provided to them, and the issues that are important to them. Their families/support systems are partners with residents and staff members in deciding the services residents want, how they should be delivered, and how residents can help.  Individuals also are assisted in making choices about the work they want to do, who they want to spend time with, and how they choose to fashion their life.
